Any key dates to look for when roll hunting Jefferson nickels or any tips in general, when roll hunting.

1938 and 1939 - low mintage
All V nickels
All Buffalo nickels
All 2009 nickels.

Good question Endymionscott. Look for the 5 key dates, 38D,38S,39D,39S & 50D. The 50D is tops. Hard to find are some lower mintage like 46S,47S,48S,49S, and in my neck of the woods are the 55P &58P, for some reason. Area does seem to matter some, east/west coasts have respective P's & S's more frequently. Also SAVE any 2009P & D's you find, the P's are mentioned a lot as very hard to come across. I find a 2009D @ in every box, a 2009P in every 8-10 boxes. Of course save all 11 silver War Nickels (42-45).

Check for errors/RPM,DDO, etc if you want, a bunch of those.

When I was searching I saved all Nickels 1959 and earlier. Most went into tubes, hi grade went into 2x2's. Have about 100$ face of pre60 nickels.

In addition to whats already been mentioned, you might keep in mind FS (Full Steps). I read this description over and over as being hard to find in early nickels. Thanks, Doug.
