If I want to buy a box of nickels or dimes at CIBC, would I need an account or not?

Thanks

Sounds like a question to ask the bank...

Just ask the bank. I've only ever asked for one box of nickels and they sold me one, no fee, as a one-time-only deal. Their first question was whether I had an account or not. No. Then asked why I wanted it. Roll hunting.

Next time (hopefully soon) I'll do the same thing at a different bank. There's only 20 something different banks that I pass every other day!

Most big banks require an account in my experience.
CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Have found FOUR complete Jefferson sets!

When I got back into CRH right before the "blast-off" back in '09, I could walk into many banks and order coin as a no-account, lol. A couple years later, everyone and their brother would hit the banks, many going out to their vehicle, search, go back in to dump, and try and buy more. They even poached some of my boxes. Left a bitter taste with many tellers.

I'm not too confident about ordering without an account nowadays, it seems the competition is still great, but with silver finds way down, I'm not sure why.

In Canada the law recently changed requiring all banks to trace all cash transactions. They will at very minimum ask for your ID and phone number, if not if you have an account.

Buying a box of any coins is a lot to ask, especially if you have no account there.

If it were me, I would first try buying say 10 rolls and see what happens. Be very nice and appreciative.
