I went to my bank to pick up some Eisenhower dollars I ordered. I have gone through a $100 so far and look what I came across: I hope its real, I know there are fakes so I am going to get it checked out. Edited by CoinMania 03/16/2012 11:20 pm

I found it that it was fake due to the God We Trust on the back of the coin, but I did find a Silver 1997 Dollar halfway through the bag so far.

Congrats on the silver. I assume you mean 1897 dollar, as in Morgan dollar? How did you order these? From the bank? If I asked for $1 coins, I would get the Gold colored smaller coins. Owassokie

Sorry I mean a 1997 American Eagle Silver Dollar, I was able to also pull out from the remainder of the bag a 1921 Morgan dollar. I ordered these from the bank. But more than likely people will not be able to get to order them. If they order $1 coins you will get the small gold coins.

Coinmania those were awesome finds, congrats! I've searched several hundred Ikes over the years, not even a 40% silver for me.

Well, that might be a first! Chinese fakes showing up in circulation now! Looks at first glance to be pretty well executed, not knowing the weight or if it's magnetic. Still, very jealous! Have found Ike's at banks numerous times, but never any luck requesting a bag; like you said have ended up with gold dollars or a mix of golds and SBA's. Got a Peace dollar once a long time ago. Congratulations on the silver! There have to be bags of large dollars sitting in vaults somewhere; just have to figure out the magic combination of words to get the banks to release them.

I checked to see if there was any 1973 Ikes but didn't find any. There were no 40% Ikes or proofs either in the first bag. But I still have another bag left that I will look through later this weekend.

Ordering Ikes from a Bank and actually getting them? Fake (Chinese counterfeits) at a bank and ready for circulation?

It was a 1885 Morgan. I also pulled a 1921 Morgan. I still have 3/4 of the bag left to go.

Sounds like a great deal. I'd be seeing how many Ikes they've got.

Last thing besides various Ikes found in the second bag was a 1879 and a 1921 Morgan dollar.

2/3 of the way down on the left side of the photo is an obvious silver coin.
