Just curious as who created these attractive illustrations. Looks like they were done in pencil. Either I'm not looking at the right place or did Dr Haxby also illustrate the book himself?

Who-Illustrated-Striking-Impressions? Who-Illustrated-Striking-Impressions?

Also, other than being hardback or paperback, is there a difference between the two printings?

The first picture appears to be signed by Emanuel Hahn.

Cheers, Bill

Thx for sharing. Love both , Judging by the style and shading techniques I would think both are drawn by E Hahn.Of course he designed the reverse of the 35 . The AG drawing should catch the eye's of a couple our fellow forum members.
What catches my eye are the silver content numbers, they appear very technical, possibly drawn with a stencil
They are part of the histories of both particular subjects
Are these illustrations from your new book ?

I think the Emanuel Hahn signature is part of the illustration, rather than being drawn by him. Also, it's unlikely because Hahn had passed away almost 30 years before Striking Impressions was printed.

I bought a used copy of the second edition a couple of years ago so that's not exactly new. However I came across a pristine first edition last year, and I can't not buy a book can I?

I don't mind, it's just a photo of a book.

This is Striking Impressions, first (hardback) and second (paperback) editions:

I'm away from home right now so I can't check the books for an ISBN number.

Striking Impressions by James A. Haxby
https://www.amazon.ca/Striking-Impr...+impressions

I don't know who illustrated Dr Haxby's book but I just cannot pass up the opportunity to once again pump this excellent and timeless book.

It's an absolute must read for any Canadian collector, from early settlement of Canada through to the 80s era. It gives the reader a direct connection to coin and how it was influenced by various historical and political aspects throughout the ages including design, mintage, precious metal content, etc.

I agree with wildflowerAB. I have to admit I haven't read too much of it except snippets of years that I'm specifically looking for, but it's very interesting and well-written.

ISBN of the first edition is 0-660-11563-8, and the second edition is 0-660-12140-9.
