Looks like there are boutiques in Vancouver,Winnipeg and Ottawa. All too far to get an uncirculated coin.I'll have to hope they come in circulation by August out here.

The email says its a hockey coin but did not mention the Stanley Cup. Is this the Stanley Cup coin mentioned in a separate thread?

Definitely going. I got an email about it as well. Here's a screen shot (same as what ace_ftw posted):

Normally these happen at all mint boutiques, so I would imagine this will happen as well. In Vancouver, they sometime do exchanges at Oak ridge mall as well, so maybe a second one?
although the one listed is for 3 days, and has a "Special" Guest, maybe its the cup?

Don't get me wrong, I love getting some new coins but you will not catch me standing in a lineup anywhere to get eight(8) quarters.

The special guest is probably an NHL alumnus though it could be one of the cups; there are replicas out there. Lafleur, Keon, Bossy, Trottier, Paul Coffey, Bernie Parent and Frank Mahovlich are all in Ottawa this weekend. The exchanges are listed on mint.ca. Ottawa 18th and 19th Vancouver 18th, 19th and 20th and Winnipeg 24th and 25th

I'm with darryldarryl. Went to one a few years back and lined up in the pouring rain outside on Granville for an hour. Never again, not for circulation coins, it ain't worth it.

I have gone to every coin exchange for the last 4 or 5 years and never had to line outside in the rain for a hour. If there is any line up it is inside for maybe 3 or 4 people. I went all 3 days for the 150th loonie and 10 cents and there was zero lineup. Walk in and walked in a few minutes.
The only times there are a lineups outside is when there is a hot release for NCLT coins and people line up before store opening.
As for the special guest, almost sure it is the Stanley cup. Ottawa gets it on March 18 and Vancouver on the 19th. All they need to do is to fly it out after the Ottawa exchange.

This quarter will be in circulation soon, why would you wait for 8 units?

Back from the Vancouver exchange. 8 quarters and you get hand stamped to prevent you from coming back same day. Quite busy compared to regular days when the store is dead as a doornail. I saw some people buying other coins so I am sure that is why they are having this promotion to draw in customers. This coin exchange is heavily promoted as I even heard radio ads promoting it. The special guest for Vancouver on Sunday is the Vancouver Canucks Mascot, Fin. Not the Stanley Cup. Quote:

Nice. I wonder why there is no coloured version of this coin (coloured jerseys maybe)?

Fyi for those in and around Winnipeg. One of my friends just texted this information for the Royal Canadian Mint - Winnipeg, something I did not read when I was there yesterday. He says the sign displayed on the front door before you walk in, says the following: Upcoming Coin ExchangesApril Friday April 21 9:00am to 4:00pm Saturday April 22 9:00am to 4:00pm May Friday May 12 9:00am to 5:00pm Saturday May 13 9:00am to 5:00pm
