This may sound weird but since pennies are hard to photo without lighting issues, I use the light above my stove since it is weak and I have a galaxy s7 so I zoom in all the way without direct lighting and I get pretty good pictures. Hope this helps!

Interesting. I am using an S7 as well. I will probably just have to put up with a little bit of glare, unfortunately. I keep trying to bounce the light and diffuse it, but can't seem to get things to look any better.
