Is there any particular reason for all the media publicity at the moment about the 2000 $1 mule coin?

Or does this sort of thing happen every couple of years or so?

I've only been coin collecting for about 5 years.

Values have just increased along with demand recently so people are
starting to take notice.I've seen similar but older articles on the 1930 penny
and the 1916 halfpenny mule

I think they're just having a slow news day. That's usually when these sorts of stories crop up.

This makes it even harder to find a normal 2000 dollar coin for starters! I've only managed to find about five or so and most of them are in heavily circulated condition.
