I would not want this coin with the dark streaks in my collection. CCF member bandsdean posted a PCGS graded XF45 1853 half dollar with arrows and rays. I think it is much nicer than the one you posted. I think his pm is open and he may have it for sale. He posted it with a few other coins in this thread. It is a decent AU50, correctly graded, although the scratch on the reverse is pretty noticeable. The dark streaks don't bother me as much as seeing a blast-white dipped one does. The die cracks throughout the date and the left obverse do enhance the value and appeal quite a bit. All in all, I would say that ANACS nailed the sharpness grade -- whether you agree with the eye appeal is a subjective matter. Attaching a picture of my '53 NGC XF45 for comparison.

i think the technically the grade is correct. I really dont like the streaks. if you put this in your collection, the longer you look at it, the more you are going to wish you didnt pull the trigger on it.

Agree AU-50 is correct but not a very appealing coin. Does not deserve a straight grade in my opinion.

I've seen AU50s with greater eye appeal. I'd pass, as there are better looking EF45s.

Technical AU-50 but with the scratch on reverse net XF-45. Not a fan of the streaks.

The dark streaks are a part of the minting process. They would not affect the technical grade unless we are looking at a piece in MS-65 or better, but they are there.
There also appears to be some recent marks in the right obverse field, which are disappointing. Those could knock it out of the AU grade, although they are probably not bad enough to get a "details" grade from the leading services.
This is not an easy to find in attractive condition. This coin is okay for the right price, which would be somewhere in the EF level.

Unfortunately, the streaks ruin the coin for me. I don't think that I could get over them
