There aren't any coin dealers near me, but there are a couple antique shops. Do they typically sell coins? And if they do, do they offer better prices than coin dealers (probably because they aren't experts in coins)?

There is one shop in North Atlanta that had a pretty decent selection. He was selling them on consignment though so the prices were accurate.
Now most of the antique stores that have multiple vendors have some coins in those big glass cases that are in nice pretty rows. Once again...north Georgia so far has been the only place that actually had a decent selection from multiple dealers. It's easy to find a good deal too. I got a 1oz silver for $12 no tax when it was $18

I have gottne some decent coincs at antique shops. I picked up some 40% halves for $1.60 each, some IHP's for under $1 and I just picked up a 1957 penny and nickel proof for $2 each. It depends on the shop, prices on coins are like anything else in the shop, most times they are priced at their MS value when they are a lower grade coin, other times you can get a deal.

Never mind graceoutcast, I see you are from Tennessee. Anyways, I am good friends with a coin collector who rents a space in the antique mall(store..whatever) near me. He always helps me out with grading coins and getting good deal. Nice old fella.

I've seen very few antique shops with coins, and when they did have thm the prices were definitely on the high side. It's a case of "We aren't experts so we'll price them high just to be safe."

I made a trip to Lincoln, Neb this last weekend (from KC, Mo) and as I was leaving my friends house I saw a strip-mall with a pawn shop and an antique mall in it, so I quick turn in. In the antique mall, right by the door was a case with about 15 or 20 morgans in it, a binder of loose 2x2's, and some other assorted coins. I need to learn more about other coins, but most of the morgans were in AU or BU, and priced about right. I bought 4 morgans (3 of them were '21's darn you superdave!). A 5-coin set of MS 40% JFK halves for $15. That was probably a little too much, but not outrageous. I stopped at a couple other places on the way home, and ended up with a bag full of silver, an empty wallet, and a big smile on my face!
