1937 has many DDO/2xHP varieties for the dollars, but most are minor. There is one pretty significant DDO for the year which I have a VF cleaned example of. for years I've tried finding myself a nice example and in the 5ish or more years of searching, I have only encountered one other example in an ugly EF..they are out there, but they are a very tough variety to find and if you find one it should be a prized part of your collection. today I upgraded my example from a lowly dark, VF, polished example to a frosty, MS-64 example of the grade which I'm confident is one of the finest known. I'm very happy to share it with you and lets see who else can find an example.

PCGS has only recorded 1 in this grade, the one I bought is unattributed.

ICCS merging these major varieties with smaller, hard to notice and more common double HP varieties under the umbrella of a single "double HP" designation shows you how backwards we are about our doubled dies compared to the US in some cases.

here are the PCGS true views for the coin, and some cropped pics from PCGS's MS-62 example to better show the strength of the doubling.

Good eye, and great photos...

thanks everyone, the seller had listed it as double HP but the doubling wasn't great in his pics, I don't wanna sound full of myself but it only jumped out to me because I knew to look at the notched letters. the close up pictures aren't mine, they are cropped from one of the 2 PCGS examples. the population of this variety is 3 at PCGS.
