Looks like a die polishing issue. The die was over worked and removed the edges of the roof.

Thanks coop!

It was my understanding this was the cause of the '69-'71 FRV's. Am I mistaken?

It is probably the reason for any missing design devices. The design was not forgotten. They are all on the dies when they were fresh.

The floating roof is a die polishing issue. Your coin is still attached though,so not a floating roof.

It still shows a little. You can find these from time to time on any year LMC. When there's a clash, it hits the field first because it's raised on the die. If they over polish it, this is what happens.

Die polishing issue. Even thinned out some of the columns.

In my past research on these found that the majority presented to have been produced in 1969 and 1970. Thanks, Doug.
