What's going on with this Lincoln Cent? The rim is solid all around with no break and weight is 2.5 grams. First one like this I have run across. Thanks for your help.

I just found this topic on Dryer Coins by Earle42 looking into it and it's quite the presentation:

I agree, thanks for the help. I had seen the discussion on the Dryer Coins but, being old, it slipped my mine.
Thanks to you all......

Looks altered. But why is the plating present on the edge of the coin if it were a dryer cent. So it may have been replated or carefully rolled some how so as not to disturb the plating?

I can see a scenario in this non-exact science in which the copper plating thinned and spread without splitting.

Given more time in the dryer, I think it would. Unfortunately, in Earle42's examples, they all appear to be pre-Zincoln, so .

It looks to me like the rim has been rolled from some sort of pressure, but not necessarily a dryer. There's no way of telling, but it's certainly PSD.

I don't remember seeing a dryer Zinc cent before that show it either way. I will have to check back on this to see if I was reasoning wrong on this or not? So if anyone has some zinc dryer cents, then please post them?

The harsh action of dryer tumbling typically knocks off some of the plating so this one was most likely hammered by hand.
