Looks altered. But why is the plating present on the edge of the coin if it were a dryer cent. So it may have been replated or carefully rolled some how so as not to disturb the plating?

I can see a scenario in this non-exact science in which the copper plating thinned and spread without splitting. Given more time in the dryer, I think it would. Unfortunately, in Earle42's examples, they all appear to be pre-Zincoln, so  .

It looks to me like the rim has been rolled from some sort of pressure, but not necessarily a dryer. There's no way of telling, but it's certainly PSD.

I don't remember seeing a dryer Zinc cent before that show it either way. I will have to check back on this to see if I was reasoning wrong on this or not? So if anyone has some zinc dryer cents, then please post them?

The harsh action of dryer tumbling typically knocks off some of the plating so this one was most likely hammered by hand.
