I'm guessing it was a 'spent' battery!! I actually don't feel bad when I get an odd item in a roll. While I don't collect foreign coinage, I have accumulated quite a few over the years. In fact, the gold Ducat sat in that tub for months before I realized it was gold.

I guess it keeps it interesting, although, I prefer the collectable finds the most.
Rest in Peace

Newbie, even been shorted in boxes from Brinks and Guardia, the wrapping/delivery service for the banks. Used to count each roll when I first started, many times per box found 2 or more rolls short. Take a box worth of nickels back to the bank knowing how much was kept and wind up short on expected deposit. Either was off on my count, bank machine not calibrated and rejecting coins or just plain short to begin with. Anymore, consider that to be the risk we take being CRHers.tried complaining, almost lost privilege of getting boxes at no charge!

I try not to complain, Even times I have been shorted. Just because I don't want the banks to cut me off. Not sure if they could or not, But I don't want to try my luck! Besides when I do get sorted it's only 15 -20 cents per box! Also I make that up in the silver I find!

Right tactics in my opinion Newbie; I see it as the cost of the hobby. I gladly accept small shortages which to their credit, have been negligible.

Buttons and foreign coins are my most common oddities -- I can't tell you how many English six-pence I've found in place of dimes!

One time I found two nickels in a roll that were stuck together with gunk and the gunk took up the space of a single nickel and I was shorted by a nickel.

Which is probably worth (cost) more than a penny.

I've found rings, pieces of broken gold chains, buttons, pins, a marble, 2 dimes and a nickel glued together in a quarter roll. Actually over the years a lot of weird stuff in hand wrapped rolls.

An American coin without the word "Cent" or "Dollar" on it in some form or another.
CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Have found FOUR complete Jefferson sets!
