It wouldn't be an error with the cladding because the '64 is a 90% silver alloy, not clad.

I assume you mean the color?

Because its stained? ED, environmental damage, oil, dirt, buried, chemical immersion, all cause effects. Seldom, but it does happen during the annealing process, copper atoms permeate outwards...this isn't it!. Looks entirely different, and seldom has heard, uh, been heard of.

ACH, Spruett, beat me again and got it right! Missed 64! That's "tarnish", grandma'd git the silver polish out right quick...

Tarnished. Regarding the line on the obverse, it's hard to tell from the photo. If the line is raised so that you can feel it,then that line is a big die crack on the obverse, through the portrait. If it's incuse - going into the metal - then it's a scratch.

If the edge shows the "sandwich" appearance that the 1965 and later coins do then you have a winner. If not then it is just a common silver dime. Worth more than a dime, but just the melt value of the silver. (If it IS a clad sandwich coin then your probably talking four figures before the decimal point.)
