Unknown Coin Dated 1617 With A Cornucopia

Another unknown coin with very little to go on. It weighs 4.6 grams and the diameter is about 23 millimeters.

The date 1617 is quite clear, and it is divided by what looks like a cornucopia. To the right of the cornucopia I can read D G REX

The other side has a few letters but I cannot make them out. I am not sure what the object on this side is. Possibly it is a crown. I cannot be sure if it is the correct side up. Any help is much obliged.

It proves The Royal Mint was wrong in 1969 when they said that the British 50p was the World's First Seven Sided Coin!
