Here are 2 different 67 Double Struck dollars. I like how the beads seem to have overlapped quite well. One has quite frosty fields on both sides and shows a bit of misty toning...any other marks are on the ICCS plastic.. The other is quite Proof-like in appearance and has deep mirrored cameo surfaces on both sides. ..again any marks on on the plastic. Does PCGS recognise this well known mint "back door" variety ? ..and is there any PCGS Coin # for these.. Any info about how PCGS lists or describes these would be appreciated again.. Thanks..for any and all comments..before I send these down.. Edited by DEVLEC 03/26/2017 2:25 pm

Lots have been certified by PCGS. You don't need to know the number for this coin, when you submit it. Do bear in mind that it will be certified as an error coin, and as such, error certification is a separate certification category that costs considerably more.

Thanks SPP..
I just want all to be in order "as much as possible" and could not locate a PCGS # for this double struck dollar and I felt they had to be in the PCGS system somewhere.
I'm hoping that having them certed by PCGS will be money well spent.

If I owned these coins they would be in hard slabs for protection if nothing else

Quote: Lots have been certified by PCGS Yes, I understand that but their search engine doesn't bring any up for reference #'s. ... "Mint Error" ..."mint error dollar".."1967 Canada Dollar".."Double Struck 1967 Dollar"..etc.. Some coins seem to be well tucked away in PCGS.

Have you tried searching Heritage auction archives? You'll see the codes right on the photos of the slabs...

That is trippy. How appropriate that it is a 1967. When I look at it I feel like I just dropped acid while listening to Sgt Pepper.

The Canadian Coin News Feb 21/March 6th / 2017 John Regitko did a 2 page in depth story on these and it was a real eye opener of the hanky panky that went on after hours at the mint in 1967. I checked out the passed sales at Heritage Auctions and theres more of these than you think. Different double strikes, rotations, grades and even fabricated flipped strikes wolf over queen and goose over queen. The flipped struck Goose over the queen, 2 were siezed by the RCMP on the mints behalf from an auction in the past. Best is read the story for your self.

Yes I remember all the news reels on this variety at the time and it was believed to have been mint employee's messing with them and I think it was Joe of J&M coins who had them taken from him but got them back later. But since then I think they have been excepted as collectable varieties by the coin dealers and collectors. I would love to own either one or both the dollar and the 50 cent they would go great with my 1969 flip struck pennies
