So I have a roll of 30 LWCs from a "sweepstakes". I know this was a promotional gimmick; do I try my luck and see if I'm a real "winner" or should I let it be?

I'd take a flat head screwdriver and carefully peel the edge of the roll so you can pour out the coins withought damaging the wrapper.

Does that make sense? I can't tell if it does or not. I'm tired lol.
Rest in Peace

Sure wouldn't hurt. Unless...you wanted to make a sucker killing on eww-boy! Bet you have no more than 8 pre-1940 "wheaties" in it, if that! My "average" percent out of over 30,000 purchased bulk wheat cents is to have 7% pre-1940 and 93% of 40's-50's, most being common 40's P's and 50's D's.

Post your results, said I'd bet...

Open it but use your finger nail or a toothpick. Don't damage the paper,it is collectible. Look through the coins for errors/varieties. Let us know what you find.

My gut says open it.

Then again, it is rather cool and gimmicky. They are probably all 40's and 50's cents anyway.

I am with Jbuck.

If you want to resell, go ahead and ruin your ebay account with "Truly Unsearched by me Wheat Cents".

And the results are in...
I opened the roll very carefully, and managed to push the coins out without damaging the paper. Please let me know if you would like shots of individual coins. Didn't think it would be a good idea to post 60+ pics!

From left to right:

1 - 1941
3 - 1948
2 - 1951

Guess I win the bet, only 8!

YES!

Since I won, what's it I get?

Am surprised in 1926, those aren't that common in bulk.

26's are cool - even though the rest are just common wheats it's still fun to look through!
