It is approx 18mm x 1mm x 2.06 grams and does not stick to a magnet I read in 1950 Argentina centavos were made with bronze/aluminum and weigh 2.06 and near these specs

Disagree, no acid bath. Look at the rim...smooth. You don't get damage on the faces but not the edge. Also the chances of the planchet being perfectly circular is problematic with acid. I've owned a certified off planchet coin and it looked pretty much like this.

You're probably talking about less than a millimeter so, yes.

If it is off-planchet, what explains the texture? It sure looks like something has eaten away at the metal.

Edit: The 1950 Argentina 5 centavos should be 2g flat and 17mm (according to NGC). If that planchet were struck in a collar intended for 19mm U.S. cents, I would expect radial spreading of the metal to fill the void, and that is not present.

The 10 centavos is 19mm but should weigh 3g flat so you would have a very underweight Argentinian planchet.

I got tired of editing my previous post.

Here's an aluminum-bronze coin from the same era that weighs 3g and is essentially cent-sized:

The color is way different (yellow and basically no red). Your first image is near that but the last two tell another story.

We'll get to the bottom of this!

Has the appearance of acid dip.

Side note for Argentina show two year production run at the Philly mint, between 1919 & 1920 no where near 1951.

Believe weight is just a coincidence. Thanks, Doug.
