It was given by my grandmother long time ago.I think it is silver

Looks real to me also. The scratches are probably as old as the coin. I think they give the coin character. You wouldn't get much more for it without the scratches in that condition anyway so don't worry about them. Sounds like it's a great gift.

This issue "books" in VG condition at $17.50, which should be taken as a retail price to a motivated buyer, sans those unfortunate scratches. It has an intrinsic value as bullion of around $3.50 (it's just under 90% silver).

I'd add that this is historically interesting as 1808 was the year King Charles IV of Spain was compelled to abdicate.
