I came across a sale where 10 1909 VDB pennies were being sold and still are. Each coin is going for 12 dollars. Is this too good to be true? Here is the original post:

CDN ask is $10.50 for G. This is a great deal assuming they aren't problem coins.

For the price/quality of current ebay transactions for many 1909 VDB, you'd have to have a pretty poor condition 1909 VDB to lose out. As an aside, there's a badly damaged and corroded 09 S VDB that's already up to $550. People are nuts about the 09 any cent. And I'm going to cultivate those nuts closer to and into the new year. My prediction? a "F" 09 VDB will probably fetch $30 on ebay commencing 12/08, if not sooner.

It's crazy isn't it JHS? And the funny thing, the mintage is high and they are regarded as one of the most hoarded of the series. I'm telling you, the 1910 should be priced MUCH higher than the 1909. Go on a search for a decent 1910, it's very, very difficult but I can buy 09's all day and night. Yet the book values for 1910 are absurd IMO.

Theoretically, the demand for the 09 VDB could be higher since some people, like myself, need two of them: one for the regular LHC album and one for the 7070.

I have three plain 1909's, / correction/-- one 1909 vdb and two plain 1909's/---with those being in my album except the xtra one......none of them are spectacular condition ...I won't venture a grade, but they're not too bad....but definately "date readable" at the very least though.....wouldn't ever part with mine because the "future value" to the Wheat will grow for quite some time I'm guessing......for one....it's "fan base" will grow and "is growing" so that put's an ever increasing value to them too. ANY of those "early year" Wheats are keepers for me......... One of these three 1909's I received in a "batch" at an estate auction where I bought 1,000 wheat pennies for $50.00...(The owner had died and they were auctioning off his stuff and I MEAN EVERYTHING----even his clothes and golf clubs!...and "no one" had looked through this "batch"!..and barely the other coins that were there too!)....I got many in the 1910's, 1920's, 1930's.....but of course mostly in the '40's & '50's....but I felt it was a massively good buy on my part.....filled MANY holes with those!... Have I mentioned before on how much I LOVE estate auctions ?...
