I found this 1964 proof nickel in a coin roll. Looks like it's not hurt too bad but the steps are worn so it's been out there a while . That's cool because I'm a 1964 model as well but I'm a business strike far from a proof. Lol

I muted the light and retook the photos.

May be plated or polished - rims look rounded and not square like a proof coin.

Yep, I believe it's a nice looking business strike and not a Proof.

Still a nice find for a '64!

Thanks mark1959,westernsky and spruette, now I know what to look for on a proof I didn't realize the edges were more square in a proof . I would say this layed around in someone's change jug for years it's mirror like in hand especially on the reverse or as mark said may have been polished. Thanks for the replies and info!

A well-circulated 1964 proof nickel would still have some decent step detail, business strikes almost always had mushy indistinct steps.
