Hello,

I've been fortunate to come into a large Morgan collection from a relative. I have over 175 coins in BU condition. Mostly common dates, but nice condition. The 1888-O and 1881-O seem particularly note worthy in the higher grades.

I am wondering if I should send them in for grading under the "bulk" rules. I have over 100 of the same year/mint.

I'll post a few that are indicative of what I have.

Thanks! All comments appreciated!

Speaking of VAM's.. Is this a 1903-S Micro S, VAM-2?

Very nice! Luck you! Have you heard of VAM's? If not, its a way to discover some not readily apparent value! Welcome!

I Have two 1903-S in the bunch. I was looking at both of them and noticed the "s" on one was a lot smaller than the other. I looked in a Morgan dollar book I had purchased and it mentioned the 1903-s Micro S.

Off to the magic box (google) and I found VAM World and quickly found myself "going down the rabbit hole". Exciting stuff!

I was pretty sure it was a VAM-2. If I didn't have another one to compare to,, probably wouldn't have caught it!

It will largely depend on how you think they will grade. The price increase that you will achieve for getting ms61 or ms62 morgans from these dates graded, may not cover the submission costs.

If I were you, I would go through them and look for the best of the best. Then post those coins in the grading forum. If those coins are confirmed to be high grade, they may be worth submitting.

It may also be worth your time to identify varieties. It looks like you've already started with that. There are a few valuable vams from these dates!

By the way, welcome to CCF, and if you're new to the hobby, welcome to numismatics!

No advice here, but congratulations on your Morgans.
