I have as part of my collection a 1901 Indian Head penny. It is absolutely beautiful & perfect in every way. My question is, the coin is silver/nickel color. There are no blemishes to make me think it was played etc. I CANNOT find any info on this & I am starting to theorize that it was punched in the wrong planchette? Any info would be greatly appreciated.. Many thanks

And yes, impossible for us to make an educated statement without good pictures of the coin in question

Obviously, without pictures we couldn't say with certainty, but first guess would be a plating. That means that somebody plated it with another material after it left the mint.

Here are a couple pics. I hope I did it correctly, it would not allow me to download my pics until the optimizer fixed them.. Please thoughts..
