Thought this was a cool medal so purchased it from a new dealer in town. Apparently, was a medal from the 1939 worlds fair in New York. Supposedly sold with proceeds to go toward assisting and bringing attention to the Nazi occupation of Czechoslovakia. I asked the dealer where he acquired them and he told me that an elderly gentleman from the old country had said that he had been paid with them for some work he had done many years ago. The dealer still had a half dozen of the medals and said he had sold two already. I had never seen one before and thought the story was interesting.

@gmwatson, interesting token--thanks for sharing. I wonder what the characters are on the rev just to each side of the crest. They look like capital letter Os, with a strikethrough. Any idea what they mean?

Paralyse ... they were rotated originally and then I proceeded to repost them over and over thinking I had the photos corrected only to find they were still 90 degrees rotated. The next thing I know, they're correct. I'm not the most technically savvy guy so I end up not sure how to correct such issues when the normal process fails.
Spence ... I'm not sure what those symbols mean. I'll do some checking and see what I can find out.

Actually they are linden leaves flanking the shield. Linden tree is symbolic of the Slav people, is usual in heraldry. I have this fantastic medal too, on the edge you can see the manufacturer stamped: "MEDALLIC ART CO.N.Y."
