What do you all think of this?

First part I am seeing is the crack starting off at the top front of the C then continuing on over the E and over to the N.

Note: on the top of the E there was a hit and so I believe that the extra material from that hit is the larger piece just below the top of the E.

Second crack goes from the Extra material and then proceeds down the back of the E into the rim.

Third: at the middle section of the E there is a crack that spreads off from that longer crack going the the back and this one goes from there and continues along the bottom of that middle part to the N.

Hope that all makes sense but once you examine the photos you will see what I am referring to

It is all from the die crack on the die. The die just cracked probably during a clash when the two dies collided together. The outline of of the head area is near that area:

That seems like a pretty likely situation.

Would a single clash "event" cause a crack like that? And when clashes occur, is it from a machine having a single empty strike or a series of empty strikes (clashes) from running out of a steady stream of planchets?

Thanks coop, this one was so crazy that I couldn't figure out how/why it could crack like that. What you explained makes a lot on sense. thanks for the reply.

The chip that is developing is from a piece of the field falling away. Probably a coin out there has that chip on the coin? Probably struck into the coin and now magnetic and will weight more than a normal coin.
