It's in between G and VG condition. My understanding is if the "D" is visible to the naked eye, it's not the key 22.

I believe another diagnostic for the key "1922 no D" is that the reverse is a much stronger strike than the obverse. I'm not seeing that on this cent.

There are four different variations of the 1922-D. The 22 no D strong reverse is the big money coin, the 22 no D weak reverse is sometimes substituted for the strong rev and it is a true no D but because of obv and rev mushy details sells for less(PCGS F12 $1300 vs $525 and the spread gets bigger as the price goes higher), the 22 weak D with a barely visible with magnification D, and of course the 22-D regular ol' coin.

I cannot see a D in the pic but you say there is a trace under magnification. That should indicate that yours is the "weak D" variation and it does have a premium over a normal 1922-D but is not worth nearly as much as a no D coin but still not too shabby

If there's any trace of D, it's not a plain. As far as a weak D, that's much more difficult to determine. For me, I like to see a stronger reverse on the weak D. That demonstrates its a die issue versus wear. Here's my weak D:

Also, on the 22 whatever, D, isn't "liberty" supposed to be weakly struck?

The entire obverse of the 22D's are generally poorly struck and from worn dies. Finding a sharp example is very, very difficult. I did a lot of searching and this was the best I could find:

Yes, that's my coin (one of my 22 D's). That pic is right after I ripped it open from a nasty, old dealer 2x2. It looks much better after a xylene soak, that crud below the shoulder is gone. It's a SOLID AU, I mean, just look at the cheek! I almost gave it MS, but I try to grade conservatively for my collection. It's an amazing 22D for strike and detail.
