Going through an inherited collection and discovered this is a Capped Die. Not a big difference in value, but a fun discovery none the less.

Thank you all who have been offering opinions and helping me sort these coins.

The parallel scratches appear to be from being abrasively cleaned. Like my children, I still love my problem coins. It is still a nice, scarce date CC morgan.

Ok I'm confused

What makes this a Capped Die? I'm just seeing a well circulated (cleaned) Morgan dollar.

I agree with VF details. I never thought about calling Morgan dollars capped before, but she is certainly capped. Never saw an "uncapped variety" :)
