I bet if you re-align Jefferson's bust to face due west, then Monticello will be horizontal or vice-versa. Despite that, it's certainly an excellent and unusual find from circulation. I posted that and had to recheck myself multiple times until I remembered my pocket piece. It confirmed the opposing direction thing. That sort of spacial thinking can be difficult and confusing. From what I understand, whether the coin has medal or coin alignment, a clockwise rotation on one side creates a counter-clockwise rotation on the other side. This is important with questions like this.
