In 79 we all know there are so many errors, it seems more coins have errors than there are with none.

How common is the doubling in the word Canada, has anyone seen examples of this that are extreme.

Please post pics if you have any to share.

Cheers.

I recently aquired a good strong example of the doubling. Will post pics once in hand.

No pics yet but should have the coin in hand for pics by the wknd. The doubling is quite strong throughout all of Canada.

Most of the doubling that I have seen on the 1979 pennies are machine errors. Although machine errors are popular among Canada penny collectors, they are considered damage by most error collectors. It would be interesting to know if your error was a rare doubled die error or if the doubling was caused by the minting machine. The reason why 1979 has so many errors is because there was a problem with the minting machine. This issue caused all kind of errors, but the most popular is the doubling of the date. But, machine errors are not restricted to the date only, and in many cases you can find doubled letters or even doubling of the portrait. Since the word CANADA is so small as compared to the numbers in the date, I imagine doubled CANADA coins go unnoticed by most collectors and dealers. I have a 1967 with a doubled CANADA, but you have to use a 40X power loop to see it. Nice find anyway.

Coins in hand today, beautiful dublin on the Canada, however it's a 1978, mis-informed, my apology for the mixup. Will post pics tomorrow.
