CGCoins Pillar of the Community United States 797 Posts	Posted 04/09/2017 9:09 pm I periodically check my coin shop up to the north of me for ancients, as over here on the west coast we do not see them too often. Sadly, the guy I usually deal with passed away after a brief battle with cancer, but had some coins set aside for when I came in. I picked up this gorgeous Celtic coin issued under Queen Boudicca. I dont know a ton about IDing these, but it appears to be issues from 60-61ad. Report this Post to the Staff

Recently, I have been reading Michael Wood's In Search of the Dark Ages and there is a whole chapter on Boadicea/Boudica. Wood quotes Dio Cassius' Roman History at the start of his chapter to provide a her description: Quote: She was very tall, the glance of her eye most fierce; her voice harsh. A great mass of the reddest hair fell down to her hips. Around her neck was a large golden necklace, and she always wore a tunic of many colours over which she fastened a thick cloak with broach. Her appearance was terrifying. Hers is a fascinating story and like so many in this time period of history ends abruptly and brutally.
