It's amazing to me how little most Americans know about their money.

However, after an investigation, police from the Fort Bend School District determined that it was, in fact, genuine, so an officer returned the bill to Sharon.

The police had to investigate US currency. I wonder if they would have accused her of being from outer space if she tried to pay with 2 Eisenhower dollars?

While incidents like this are always a headscratcher (yet not really all that surprising I guess), this particular incident happened two years one year ago.

WHy are any of you surprised that people who can't make change for common currency, surprised that these folks don't recognize something other than a $1, $5, $10 or $20?

How many people under the age of 30 know that not only $2 bills, How @ $2 1/2 Gold coins, or Two Cent Pieces, two DIFFERENT 3 cent coins? It's sad that our public fool systems no longer teach historical perspectives and backstories (biographies) any more, has to be politically motivated to the dumbing down of our youth...

If I say too much more I'll get taken down!

Brian, how many of your friends know about a $2 bill or ever seen one?

That no school administrator or police official had ever heard of a $2 bill is remarkable. Or is it.

My mother in law lost a bet to me about U.S. $2 bills being real. She said they didn't exist..... So I pulled one out of my wallet and handed it to her. She still thought it was fake.
We both live in Canada and haven't seen $2 bills here in over 20 years so she really thought she was going to win the bet.
