I came across this 1934-S Peace dollar listing and had some questions. First off, it looks nice in the seller's pictures however on the second picture I see a rather large scratch on the cheek.

For some reason, the other pictures don't show that scratch. When I go to NGC validation, I DO see the scratch.

Is this truly a nice AU-58 example or should that scratch have technically detailed it? Why doesn't that scratch show up on the ebay listings 1st, 3rd, and 4th picture? In my experience NGC's photos usually look really bad.

Thanks!

I see this kind of thing a lot in my own pictures. I think it comes from trying to translate a 3-dimensional object (coin) into a 2-dimensional photo. There always seem to be things that appear and disappear based on the slightest fluctuations in camera and/or lighting angle.

Seems to have sold, but I'm not a fan of this coin.
