I have never had a problem finding them, and DC is the only 2009 quarter that I don't save.

We got a solid box of them at my work. I saved a couple sealed rolls, plus the higher grades from my till. Literally nothing but BU DC cents for a month and a half. I specifically dug those out every time someone asked for a roll of quarters for the laundromat, just to get them out there.

Those are short 10 coin quarter tubes I picked up from Wizard coin supply.
I just thought they would work for loose BU 2009 quarters.

This thread has has me thinking ... pretty sure I have a 2X2 box of 2009
quarters ... somewhere ... and a short 2X2 box of satin quarters ..

So I think I have more ...somewhere...

Oh .... and a few Dansco albums .. with 2009 sets ...

I have to stop thinking about this ... it will make me want to buy some more

I know I am getting old .. but here it is days later ..
having my morning coffee ... and I see I read your title wrong.
I thought it said 2009 Washington quarters ...
I see now your talking about just Wash. DC quarters.

Sorry about that.

I use to see a lot of them in circulation, not so much anymore.
I still wonder if 2009 quarters were sent more to one area
of the country.

The State Quarter program stopped in 2008. For just the State
quarters 1999 - 2008, Banks could order the new quarters designs.
That stopped in 2009, the banks could just order quarter
rolls .. and get what ever was available.

To sum that up.
From 1999 to 2008 banks could order the new designed quarters.
- Because of that the State Quarters saw a much larger circulation.

From 2009 to date, banks could not order the new designed quarter.

- So the new quarters do not start out getting circulated
as much as the State Quarters did.

I pull out everything from 2009. They weren't part of the 50 states sets that everyone was selling on QVC. Littleton coins, etc. And the mintage numbers were a lot lower. I love the DC quarter. Being 8 years removed from their release, and the low mintage numbers make them fun to find. To me it's like finding a Wheat penny. Something simple that makes my day.

..I love getting the 2009 Lincolns. I do keep all those.
I even trade cents in the take a cent give a cent tray at the store. I find 2009 cents in those more than I get them from the cashier.

I didn't know, until this thread, about the low mint numbers of the 2009 Quarters. Just posted this one because I had never seen one of these yet and thought that was strange. When I pulled out my RedBook to get the mintage numbers on these for my OP, and saw how low they were, I kinda answered my own question.

The thing for me ...

There 12 different quarters for 2009, P and D mints. I like using the 10 roll
boxes, so the short tubes work for me.
