Hello,

I'm working on a project and am absolutely lost in determining who designed the 1921 1 Rouble silver coin. I know AF Hartman is noted on the coin as the mintmaster, but beyond that I'm unable to find out anything more about the personnel behind this coin. Are there any Russian coin aficionados here who have info on the designer of the 1921 1 Rouble coins? I have scoured online resources including this and other forums as well as other information sites and can't seem to find any clues.

Thank you for any help you can kindly offer!

@maccoin81, first welcome to CCF. Second, yes there is a dude around here who goes by "January1May" who should be able to weigh in on your question. It's pretty late in Russia right now, but he should be by at some point.

Quick read up on some Russian sources: reverse (coat of arms) was designed by Nikolay Andreyev Andreyevich https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikolay_Andreyev and confirmed by the signature of Lenin.
About the obverse, couldn't find any info.
Overall, the designs of 1921-1923 coinage is considered weak by many (probably made quickly, in chaos and out of necessity), while the 1924 coins have way stronger design. Even 4 artists were working on 1 rouble and 50 kopeks dated 1924.
