I have looked at this coin too long. Do you think there is a mint mark?

Looks like it to me.

[edit] How about the big reveal? I'm hoping you cherrypicked something good out of the junk bin!

I purchased about 3 rolls of Barber quarters over the last year from various sources. The ones that constituted upgrades for my Dansco were popped in immediately after purchase. The rest waited until today for me to spend some quality time with a loupe.

I've done a bit more research since posting and I'm fairly sure it just LOOKS like an S. It isn't large enough to be a genuine mint mark. I would love to be wrong, though....

Here is the coin:

I might put it in my Dansco anyway. It's not like I'm going to fill the 1901-S spot any time soon.

Get an opinion from a good standing coin dealer. If they think it is legitimate then I would get it authenticated by PCGS or NGC, cause even in AG condition that is still an amazing find and a valuable coin nonetheless.
Rest in Peace

I've seen several 1895-S quarters with very faint mintmarks. The mintmarks were overlooked by dealers who put the G to VG coins in the generic Barber bins. Perhaps the S was weakly impressed on the die, or these pieces were caused by a partially filled die.
I suppose there could be similarly weak mintmarks on 1901-S coins. You could call ANACS and inquire whether weak-S coins have been certified.
