Hello All,

Thought you may like to see this 1998 5cent I pulled from circulation last year. It seems the die has struck the coin approx 2.5mm off center. I am not sure would this be classed as a Mis-Strike, Broad strike or ?.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Definitely some premium there I would say.... Why is Elizabeth inverted though? Is it a mirror image or something?

Umm, sorry I think that may have been my lack of scanning and image creating ability, unfortunately nothing more. I think I scanned it and it was sideways and when I have rotated I must of pushed the flip option as well in photoshop.

That's very nice. I have a Canadian cent that is less offset but similar with the capping on one side.

I was thinking the same Yass, after having a look around at some photo's of other's similar errors. But again I am no expert, either way it is nice to have at least one error in my very small collection to date.

Whatever it may be called, your coin looks similar to my Canadian error, although yours is offset clearly more.

Yes, it is a broad-strike, and a very nice broad-strike too.

The 5c is called a misstrike not a broad strike great 5c orionnet especially that date

The only way I know this is because I found a similar one and asked the experts and they all said misstrike

Variety terminology is a science....I am no scientist

I have one of those too, it happened to a sixpence. The gap wasn't as big though.
