I'm very new to coin collecting and found this penny in a small collection I bought. Is this caused by mint error or was the penny mangled some other way? Thanks for any information.

PSD. When the coin was struck it was normal. Altered after it was struck. The rims were in the correct location, but the samage to the coin altered them.
