Hey, I'm new to this but was just after some advice please.... does anyone know if this new £5 note is worth something? As you can see the queens face is missing. Been to the bank today and they said the note is legit but can't tell if it's been rubbed off or anything... if you look closely all the edges of her face where it's been printed are still there in fine dots.... hope someone can help me....

Does it feel especially rough or scratchy on the queen's face? If it's completely smooth like the rest of the bill, it may be a inkage error.

Check carefully with a magnifying glass, I've read people are using pencil erasers to remove parts of the note.

I've heard this aswell.... how would you be able to tell though if an eraser has been used? It all looks to neat and tidy around the face for it to be rubbed out.... The bank didn't have a clue so don't know who to take it to. Do you think it's worth something if it is a genuine missprint?

What I find suspicious is that the Queen's face has been so neatly erased. If it were a genuine error, I'd expect the missing details to be more random, or perhaps in the form of a neat horizontal or vertical bar right across the note.

The face is very very faintly printed on there and the shading around her face is perfect.... it looks like the face layer of ink has run out.... where would you suggest that I could take it to get it authenticated as this could be worth a lot to a collector?

You need someone to see it which because of were you live makes a bit more difficult. There are regular shows and was going to suggest you went and give you peoples details ,but unfortunately none close to cornwall as far as I am aware. Worth making a phone call and posting to Colin Nardeth he is on leicester square london or Pam west in surrey. Sending pictures is a waste of time the note needs to be looked at in hand and a light put over it. Good luck.

It was on the news earlier in the year about the Queen's face being rubbed away when people were accidentally putting £5 through their washing machines (leaving them in jeans pockets) I remember a friend telling me about it, that's probably the same thing! And not a misprint.
