I've just bought this shiny 1816 and I'm comparing it with my 1817 'dirty' one. In your opinions, which has the greater eye appeal?

The one has been cleaned and a bad job at that, note the crud left inside the letters, check microscopically for cleaning marks, bet you'll find some. I hear the value swirling down the bowl...

Your 1817 has the 'RRITT' flaw too, so even better.

The 1817 is far more attractive, nice original surfaces.
