Here are some pictures of an 1864 Die #9. I understand that obverse doubling (most prominent on "Victoria" and the date) is common with this die #. Note the number "6" in the date. Although it appears to be normal 6/6, note the the detail below the knob which almost appears to be a 6 over X. Are there known varieties for these DPs? If so are they documented somewhere?
What you are showing on the date looks like Machine Doubling. Like 'chatter' on woodworking it is caused by a loose tool, most often the die is not locked into press correctly and moves upon striking. This adds no value for U.S. collectors and I have heard of no premiums attached to Canadian or British collectors.
