I'm a little envious, they look great! I have one on order but no idea when I'll have it in my hands. This one ranks with my 2007 Koala for the most ridiculous premium I have been willing to accept on a silver bullion coin!

They look great but such a massive premium right now that I feel by waiting, it will eventually drop off!

I was able to get a few and sell off the others so I got to keep mine for a much easier premium (net spent I think was like $30 for the one). A very nice coin! The only bad thing is to me it looks way too much like my South Africa 5 Shillings in my Dansco album...

Playboy and yes, these are nice coins for sure. The proofs have already been released. Mintage 15,000 and selling in excess of $300 on the secondary market. @mkman ... who knows. One million seems like an awful lot to have such a high premium but I did hear (I have no way of knowing if they had their facts right tho so don't hold me to it) that this issue is the "Premium Uncirculated" version and they plan to have a regular bullion issue in 2018 that will not be as "nice" but will sell for a more normal government issue coin premium.

Why the premium for a Krugerrand? The guy on the front isn't particularly appealing. Although the back is nice. But 3.5 times spot for essentially a bullion coin? MCM was hyping these. Only a million. That's a lot. Most limited Perth stuff is a lot better looking and can be bought for a small premium over spot, and those mintages are far lower than this.

@Debarjc. What do you mean by secondary market?

Secondary market = people that bought them from the original supplier these were shipped to (for example Modern Coin Mart) sell them via ebay and other sale venues at a profit. Once the original suppliers sells out of a product the price can go up (or down) depending on demand. Right now the proofs are selling on ebay for over $300 in most cases.

The Premium uncirculated one that I ordered from MDM Deutsche Münze (dealer in Germany) arrived today.

Way too much gouge on these for me. I'd saved up for at least ten of them figuring they'd run around 40 per. The 60 price was insulting in my opinion. Couple that with the large mintage & it was a bust for me. I bought swans instead. The krugs are nice but not that nice for that price.

With silver being at $17.40 and dropping and a mintage of one million I just can't make myself hit the buy button now. That is a crazy premium for that kind of mintage.

No way I'm in at that premium on such a high mintage. That's just crazy. Looks like they want to keep people from collecting the series.

Time will tell if a million of these can be absorbed globally while maintaining demand. If the price drops off I'll be happy to stack a few more!

I may end up eating my words on this coin. The more I keep looking at it the more I want it. I may just deal with the crazy premium this one time.
