I got this Colombian Guacari 500 pesos coin yesterday ( the one at the right) and I really don´t know if it has an error ( the legends el arbol de Guacari- the tree of Guacari - and Republica de colombia are rotated as you can see when compare it with the regular coin at the left, but the bronze center is not rotated ,and it has not a date at all.... ) or it is just a " fake " coin or ..... ? Could the wise and experts guys of the forum give me an opinion what they think could happened with this coin ? ( is the first time that I see a Guacari Colombian coin like this one ) .Thanks a lot !

Compare particularly the background crosshatching that surrounds the tree. On the coin on the left (the genuine coin), the crosshatching is all even, straight lines; on the coin on the right, it is more like rows of dots, and it looks like the rows were drawn by a five-year-old child without using a ruler.

It's a counterfeit, and one that does not look very convincing when given the luxury of time to examine it closely. But remember, a counterfeit coin only needs to fool one person, once, and it is a success as far as the counterfeiter is concerned.
