1900 IHP. Clash Or Die Crack? - Coin Community Forum

Rpuckett Valued Member United States 67 Posts	Posted 04/29/2017 8:35 pm This IHP has a strange crack on the reverse from the ribbon down to the rim. I also noticed the right side of the T is larger than the other side. I assumed they were symmetrical but haven't paid much attention to the T on the reverse of any of my other coins. I checked several examples of MS and proof 1900 cents on Heritage and none of them has that elongated right serif. I wonder if your coin took a hit there long ago and then circulated until the damaged area was worn down. I guess the die itself might have been damaged or tooled, in which case this could be considered a die variety. Never seen one like it before. Report this Post to the Staff

I hardly think the value of this coin would justify TPG submission. Additionally, if it is a new variety, chances are the TPG would not make any mention of it on the slab.
