This is in my collection -- the foil wrap appears to be genuine from mint but I have not heard of a sleeve over foil wrap -- 1959D UNC I think -- what is the best move from here.

My old timers intuition is telling me this roll was wrapped in foil and then put back in paper wrapper . probably in 1959 . Just a collectors brainstorm to hopefully keep them red and pristine .
I wouldn't unwrap them from the foil . toss the paper wrapper and put that roll in a plastic tube. mark the tube 1959-D BU Cents .

Boughtt some like that from an old time collectors estate auction. Apparently oltimers thought that good for long time storage, the coins I unwrapped were 58D's and were exceptionally NICE, think it worked. I'd grade mine as MS67's , really high grade, little or no bag nicks, BTW, not mint rolls, originals most often came in 5000 count bags and repackaged. I think they were manufactured sleeves, tin foil is thinner than commercial, especially in late 50's, that stuff was thick.

I have heard of this being done in the 50's as well.

Wonder if it would help out Zincolns? Nahhh...they are beyond hope.

That's an interesting way to do it, I might switch to that for some of mine.
