Why is this penny blue tone and have weird lines across it? does it mean it's anything worth keeping?

to CCF. The lines are called roller stains http://goccf.com/t/285956#2430054 and I can't really see the blue toning, but being blue I would think it is not natural toning. What does the reverse look like?

Nickel naturally tones blue, but I have never seen copper tone a natural blue tone unless it was a proof.

I have seen a few blue coins in my CRHing days. They have a glossy sheen at times.

I have to,but that is most likely from a bad cleaning or heating job.

Here are a couple other picture that show the blue better. The back side of this penny is also blue and shiny like the front.

!

I had some cents tone similar from keeping a little bit of change in the ash tray of my car one summer.
Live in FL and it can really get hot in a car parked in the sun all day.
I would keep it!

I like the look. It might not be worth more than a cent, but I would keep it.

WOW, that's a GREAT find! I like it!

Woodies are pretty common for this issue but finding one toned like that is rare. The woody effect on the more modern cents was caused by impurities rolled into the planchets during their manufacture.
