Hi.

I found this coin and I'm curious if it might be worth something (other than one cent!).

Any idea what it's made of? It looks silver.

Not magnetic. Also don't have a scale for very light things like these.

Welcome. The photo is not so good. It looks like it is a little undersized, with a lot of doubling and funny stuff going on around the edges, so it may be struck on an undersized foreign planchet. That is somewhat common in 1979. I would take it to a jeweller and ask them to weigh it. It may be easier to find a regular cent of the same vintage and see if yours is a little small. Also, look for any sign that the coin has been plated (copper showing through, irregular metal finish etc). If it is struck on a foreign planchet, you have a nice little error worth perhaps $100 to $200.
