All I can say is that today was a FANTASTIC day... I woke up this morning and my 2 1/2 year old son crawled in bed to "snuggle"... It was 5 a.m. and I cherished all 2 hrs of it until I had to get up and start getting ready for work. As some of you may already know I work as a teacher in what can only be described as a school with social and economic "challenges"... The kids can be pretty rough around the edges.. but at the same time they're absolutely beautiful. In my years as a teacher I would like to think I have developed enough of a rapport with my students that they understand with me there is a line and while it's best they don't cross it... I will also be the first to celebrate any all all success that comes their way. I shared a laugh with one student and his "buddies" as I told him he can't be "mixin his metals" wearing both gold and silver chains.. and once I got him and his "cronies" laughing at the "digs" I was giving him I managed to convince him to take off his "colours" in school... Then in one of my classes a student came up to me and gave me a 1914 U.K. penny as well as a 1967 coronation medallion.. Once again most of these kids have less than nothing at times yet this student knew I liked coins and wanted me to have it... I was touched... and once again reminded that many here have little but are always willing to give everything and more if they can... I then had to go to the bank and make a withdrawal as I had planned to buy up a lot of silver today.... While at the bank I decided to go over the business wicket and ask if they have anything interesting.. (I usually blank at this bank ... they never give me any pennies or old bills and only occasionally the odd nickle dollar or 50 cent piece) Well the lady comes out with two cups of silver quarters and dimes... SCORE! All at face... So then feeling lucky I go to my other "pick up" bank in the area and ask them if they have anything of interest and the teller gives me two boxes of pennies and the following bank notes... wooo hoo Finally I go to have a look and buy some silver coins off this one fella... and he has just under $60 face of silver and we agreed upon $10.65 x face ... I had a quick look and hoping that under closer inspection there may be a gem or two in there in REALLY good condition... Now as I sit down and share all this with you I'm watching the CFL on tv.. my kids and wife are asleep.. and after I do some tidying up around the house I will have a quiet moment to really look at these coins... Today really has been a blessed day.. I only wish that the sun shines as warm on all of your faces my friends.... Please feel free to continue this thread and share your good coin days...

0xDA71d: I teach phys. ed.... but yes I have shown a few coins to my classes occasionally. Ironically in health class I really feel that given the topics that I have to cover I make it very open and allow the class and their questions and inquiries to provide the direction of the class... For instance once we started talking about a fire drill and alternate places to go in the winter (it get's to -35C here) which ended up leading to a discussion on our monarchy and ties to united kingdom... low and behold a great time to show the reining monarchy by showing them some coins with the monarchs on them. That sorta thing...
Slur: thank you..!!
DBM: every day is a REALLY good day... this one just had an extra little sparkle to remind me I think I'm doing all the right things right now.. With respect to Karma.. if that was the case I could only wish that I could package it up and send it to some people on here...

I wish I could have ever had such an enlightening and positive experience, a full day with nothing but positives. such an experience is very rare for anyone and I wish there could be more of it. The son or daughter thing... I miss that and I have never experienced that...( but who knows, maybe the door bell will ring one day... it would be a welcome day..) you are one lucky son of gun...

Inspiring that those with very little will give what they have to you and it sounds like you give back in many ways, thus the good karma. Thank you for this. Makes all of my problems seem very small.

Not so sure about that "good people out there" part, seeing the amount of silver turned in.

Damn, I wish you were my teacher. None of my teachers aren't really coin collectors, but one of them does have a husband that collects the circulating commemorative coins, so once in a while I tell her about the new release and I get her the mint sealed packs. But I can't argue, my teachers are great.
