Hello,

I have quite a few 1887 Morgans. Most are MS63 or MS64. In looking through them I believe I've found 15 VAM-12 (Alligator Eye) examples.

My question is, Is it worthwhile to submit these and pay to have the proper variety attribution applied? Being so common, I wasn't planning on submitting any of my 1887 Morgans. But now I'm not so sure.

Is there an extra fee, in addition to the grading fee, for VAM attribution by the TPGs?

Thanks for the info, I'm still learning about all this.
Rest in Peace

The cost to have an MS63 VAM-12 graded with attribution from PCGS and NGC is about the value of the coin itself. ANACS would be less but still not worth it. There are literally thousands of these out there with the clashed version being slightly more common than the un-clashed. MS66 would be the threshold for me to send a common date to have graded unless it were an uncommon VAM. Just my opinion however.

Thanks Dave. Just the opinion I was looking for.
