I could be wrong, but I think this one is fake. The date looks off, and the porosity of the surfaces is a red flag to me.

Yes, that coin sure has strange looking surfaces. See if it weighs 26.73 grams.

Did they use a soldering iron to put those 8's on the second coin? I doubt either one are genuine.

I think these are both fake. Dates and mintmarks look completely wrong, among other things.

The '88-O is certainly a counterfeit. The reverse is a C4 design (note the wing-neck gap on the eagles' left wing) that did not come into use until 1900. I doubt very much that the 79-O is authentic either. As already mentioned, check the thickness. These cast counterfeits are usually produced thick to achieve proper weight when using a metal alloy that has a lower specific gravity than .900 silver.

The '88-O is an arms length counterfeit, it's not even close. The '79-O is a better counterfeit that might fool someone who didn't look too hard. I guess you're only out $10?
