Won this on ebay last night. It won't let me copy pics so I'll post the link. I think this is a possible crack out candidate and ez est dip. That cheek and fields are relatively mark free. There is a big value jump from a 63 to 64, plus it looks fully struck which helps. Worst case it isn't a upgrade I have a buddy looking for one as I already have an example in my own set. This I felt was worth a gamble. All my previous gambles the last few months have paid off thus far.

I think it's got a good shot. Good luck!

Left click to enter the viewer, then right click to save images. Do you have any suggestions for guides on grading Peace dollars? There were a few in my LCS junk dollars selection with a good deal of luster left.

It's at least a 64 maybe higher with close ups.

I couldn't copy paste pics on here via iPad. I'd use photograde from PCGS. Peace dollars are notoriously difficult to grade cause of inconsistent strikes, luster, etc. it looks minimum 64 in pics, if a dip removes the ugly toning, then it's possible for a 65 if there are not too many distracting marks

Got in hand. Thoughts it will upgrade to a 64 or not? Small hits but nothing majorly distracting. A few hits in the hair, a hit on the nose, one above the eye and a small few on by the chin .

IMO it's too big of a risk. With all those hits on the observe I don't see it grading higher unfortunately.

I'm 50/50 on this right now. Yes there are hits, but the luster, strike, etc are top notch. Plus if it gonna get cracked out it's gonna get a dip cause the toning holds back the luster and is ugly IMO. I'll wait for more opinions, worst case I will sell it to my buddy when he gets back from Europe,

I refrain from trying to grade Peace dollar for the reasons you stated.

If you don't mind, please post after pics. I'm curious if acetone would remove any of the gunk.

I wouldn't dip it. I like it the way it is. I think it makes 64 but I wouldn't crack it out. Maybe send it to CAC and shoot for a gold bean. Maybe green comes in as consolation.

Essentially I take a risk cracking it out and acetone and dip it. It really is a coin flip right now. I'm into it for $65 which was $20 under greysheet pricing, I got a fair price on it.

I think the coin is accurately graded at MS-63.

I think the original images were edited by the seller. The hit above her eye definitely looks muted, possibly smoothed over in an image editor.

I think the dip will only enhance the hits when thinking of eye appeal.
